The EPL, Another Two-Horse Race?
Last season’s EPL title race couldn’t have been closer. Only one point separated Manchester City and Liverpool. Unsurprisingly, both clubs are considered strong contenders this coming season. Of the chasing pack, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal, who invested heavily during the transfer window, could well mount serious title challenges.
In contrast, Chelsea and Manchester United have somewhat different expectations. How will Chelsea fare under Frank Lampard’s stewardship and without star player Eden Hazard? Has Manchester United strengthened in the right areas, making Harry Maguire the most expensive defender in history?
Best of the rest? Keep an eye on Everton, Wolves and Leicester City. Each club is on an upward trajectory, but whether it’s enough to break into the top six remains to be seen.
In terms of relegation, the three promoted sides are all expected to struggle. So too, Brighton, who avoided the drop last year by the slimmest of margins.
